Durban Internet Exchange
2011-09-13
ISPA is in the procedure of choosing a Durban Web Exchange host, with Teraco and Net Solutions the tops ; a launch date before the end of 2011 likely In March 2011 the Web Service Providers' organisation of S. A. invited qualified industry players to submit suggestions for the hosting of its planned Durban Net Exchange. The Durban Net Exchange ( DINX ), like the Cape City ( CINX ) and Johannesburg ( JINX ) Net Exchanges, is going to enable local ISPs to save costs by interconnecting their networks and exchanging traffic. All ISPs in Durban, not just ISPA members, will be in a position to peer with DINX. "CINX and JINX both process giant volumes of traffic with over thirty ISPs gazing with JINX and sixteen looking with CINX. With Web traffic volumes roaring in Durban lately there's a clear need for the town to have a Web Exchange of its own," expounded ISPA GM Ant Brooks. "Once DINX goes live, ISPs in Durban will be in a position to enjoy benefits like enhanced performance for traffic in the town, cost-savings and an additional layer of redundancy from the DINX," expounded Brooks.
